Creating a low end monitor would be a very, very wise decision on Apple's part. Buyers of Mac Minis would appreciate having a less expensive Apple monitor to go with their stuff.

Because I have seen 14, mine, my aunt, my friend, my friend's dad, and 10 in band class.
and none of them have any of the said issues.
so in my experience 100% ipad 2s don't have any hardware issue

Looks and sounds great from those numbers.
Is Apple going to finally address their one major weak spot in their desktop machines?
I just hope this is a honest list, and they cards will be the exact same performance as the PC cards of the same model numbers.
They are not going to be Mobile versions, or Underclocked versions, but the true and honest cards they are supposed to be.

I would guess there's going to be:
1.) A processor upgrade
2.) Same RAM
3.) Better graphics
4.) Thunderbolt

Pro takes more video formats. It has a few other tools, I think.
It's basically designed so that if you really are a hobbyist with an HDV camcorder you really won't notice a difference between the 2 since the extra things FCP has are things you'd never use anyway.

there's a few misconceptions about the lifespan of consoles - Sony for instance - the PS2 had a 10 year lifespan, but it does overlap with the release of the PS3 - that's how it'll go with the PS4. As for the 360 - that won't be the only platform the MS has on the market - in a couple of years there will be another 'next gen' console from MS.
I never had a misconception about the life cycle of a console, it's when new consoles debut that has changed. I chuckle at the PS2 reference...very few survived ten years. I never owned one but replaced plenty of bad DVD drives for friends. I had an xbox that worked for three years from day one, and my friend's xbox ate itself on day three. On the other hand I went through eleven 360 consoles in the first year and a half and my friends 360 never flinched the whole time. Would have been less if I had told MS to go screw themselves and mod it sooner. Point being, life cycle is relative.

Doesn't make it any less true.
My entertainment system has a nine foot screen that I pieced together with museum grade stretch bars, polyester blend canvas and painted with black widow formula paint. I intended to have a big screen at low cost that is both modular and effective in a variety of ambient light situations. Unfortunately low framerates and screen tear are amplified when the game is 80% of your view. Hence the motion sickness. Hence me waiting for the industry to catch up to the 60Hz standard that has been around a loooooong time (at least on the electronic calendar). Meanwhile I play on my PC with a 360 controller...with no motion sickness.

PC's keep up because they are modular and allow competition. The only true way to saturate the demographic with a new form of gameplay is to make it standard with a new console at an affordable price. The rest will go the way of the 32x.

Samsung is becoming the most dominant consumer electronics company in the world: from LCD TVs to cell phones, to camcorders, to MP3 players. in 2006 they will have sold 150 million phones, growing much faster than Nokia and Motorola. Their camcorder business is just picking off with megapixel camcorders priced below $300. They are just now getting to be serious about the MP3 market. The YP-Z5 would have been one of the top players, had they decided to be agressive on pricing, however for some reason it's held very high selling prices throut the world. Now watch for the YP-T9, it will outsell iPod nano in 2007. It is ridiculously loaded with features and is much better priced than the Z5s.
Walmart controls 40% of DVD distribution. If the DVD goes the way of the music CD, they are not going to let this market slip away from them. They have just started selling digital downloads and have much more clout with content companies than either Microsoft or Apple.
Amazon.com rankings offer extremely limited view of the world. They are only USA, plus research shows that it is the preferred vendor for highly sophisticated users. The world is much bigger. Creative Zen Nano is #1 electronics seller at Amazon.fr and Amazon.de (France and Germany) you can check it out. Creative is not a powerhouse, though. Watch out for Samsung to start ramping up the YP-T9s next year and blow everyone out of the water. As it is now, they are on backorder and sold out at many outlets... I really hope you are correct about FR2 in Leopard. However...
I do think you need a TV-card in the computer too. Given Apples philosophy about simplicity, I doubt they will have a stand alone TV-reciever. Furthermore, I just can't see Apple selling MP with a TV-card. So my guess is that they will make a dedicated computer. Still I am most likely wrong... as always...:p
My dream mini has a HD-DVD player, HDMI/DVI out, optical audio out (mainly important for those that want to connect to a surround sound receiver) and add some Netflix-like movie download subscription service added to iTunes. Put those together with space for a 3.5" hard drive and run Front Row 2.0 and I'd be psyched.
I really want the Mac Mini to be a basic TV hub device. It doesn't have to have a DVR, cable card slots or TV tuners built-in. Sure, if Apple could build an all-in-one box that's better than my HR10-250 (HD Tivo for DirecTV) or the upcoming Series 3 from Tivo that would be great. But for now I'd be happy with one box for TV watching (HR10-250) and one box for everything else (DVDs, music, movie downloading, casual web surfing).

I am so with you. It's almost the main reason why I want my next Apple (MMBP, obviously) to come from the US. The narrow vertical return key is a PoS. The $$$ saving over ��� is almost secondary! ;)

In fact I was. I said Final Cut Pro should sell for around $300, not Final Cut Studio.
- iMovie for the general public.
- Final Cut Pro for those who want more control ranging from the semi-pro to the big movie studio.
I'm guessing that the other apps will be announced as part of Final Cut Studio before FCP comes out of beta or you'll be able to buy those apps as standalone in the app store.

No idea what film that is, but I do spy Handbrake on the MacBook, which looks identical to the one that I just retired. My optical drive in that machine was starting to go, I think. Only thing I've used the one in the new MacBook Pro for is to reinstall the OS after I got it...
Handbrake comes VERY close to destroying my Macbook ha ha, the CPU goes up close to 90 degrees celsius! Terrifying!

I just hope Apple doesn't make a habit of this "stealth" upgrade ********. I'm ready to buy now, but I'll wait a bit for an update. If I hear about people receiving core duos when core solo is written on the box, then I think my head will explode.

I'm not a fan of the iMac design... mostly because of my bad experience with a Rev A iMac G5 being so freaking loud. If Apple had kept the Core Solo and dropped it's price $100 or more (Apple needs a $399 mini more than it needs a $799 model) lots of people would have bought it.

I Know but the prospect of a touchscreen ipod seems soooo cool. Its just annoying that you think its going to be launched and then it doesnt, all the hype before the hi-fi launch and 5 months down the line nothiings happened. Im sorry if im whining but I reallly want to spend my birthday money on something worthwhile.

I started a thread about the new Passat and Jetta a little while back. Basically, the new Jetta is bigger, costs less, and uses cheaper materials. People expecting Golf-like levels of refinement and build quality will be disappointed.
And it went from looking like nothing else to looking like everything else.
I don't find it ugly, necessarily, but when I see one, I always think "Corolla!" - until I get closer, and then I think "Kia!"

It would be nice - in theory - to have a hyper-fast wireless connection; however, what does it matter if my outside line stays at 2M/512k speed?
Because those speeds go up? And because you are not always accessing the outside?

I'd really like to see that extra space house more USB ports and PCI slots, or even a eSATA port to make add on HDD space perform like it were right on the motherboard.
