They are being slow in adopting a few new technologies that would leapfrog them (VFS, resolution independence). Many customers complain about the price (although Apple rarely lowers them, a hike is even more rare). Apple is currently straddling a position where they must cater to their growing casual users and their pro customers. And they are generally picking the casual, but also transitioning the Pros. For example, the new MacPros are a huge ripoff unless you go big...but you can get an iMac for a fraction of the price thats faster/equal to the low end MP.
There are many people here who like to say Apple only acts in its own best interest, and not for customers interests, etc etc. Please name ONE example where they acted solely in their own self interest to the detriment of customers. This does not count simple business decisions (like discontinuing Xserve since it wasn't selling well). Many of their decisions have explanations or alternative solutions...but then, that would make me a fanboy if I explained it I suppose. Apple is no angel but it is certainly no devil, and it is far more competent than most tech companies.
There are Apple fans out there, but also people who choose them simply because they like it better. If someone is an Android/Windows fan thats fine. I don't complain about any of their products, business decisions. or saturation of business as unfair. Mostly, because I frankly don't care; they haven't offered a product I have been interested in since college. I'm sure HTC and Samsung make quality gear, but there is no buzz around them. I guess the later release of the next gen iPhone would make sense at least, in terms of the release of the white iPhone 4.
When Philip Schiller said the white iPhone 4 would arrive 'this spring', many questioned the logic, given the 'impending' Summer release of the iPhone 5.
The timing of this release obviously makes makes more sense now (if this latest rumor is true lol).

I doubt we'll see Core 2 Duo machines next Tuesday, but it's possible. :rolleyes:

I think T-Mobile might fit this bill, at least in the US. I remember seeing a story here earlier in the year where T-Mobile said its vision was aligned with Apple (but not necessarily a partnership; abc article here (http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ZDM/story?id=2537247)).
Interesting reading that abc article and fits with my impression of T-Mobile in the UK too.

Here's my beef with cloud services, as concisely as I can make it:
Data storage is cheap.
Networking (away from home) is costly.
I absolutely DO NOT want to rely on my AT&T data plan to get at stuff. Wi-fi, okay, when I'm at home, but then I might as well keep things on hard drives on the local network, rather than have to reach across the whole damn Internet via my DSL drop.
But knowing Apple, they will do it anyway and wait for all their partners' tech to catch up with theirs. :rolleyes:

The basic fact is vector graphics aren't always appropriate. A lot of things really can only be done, or can be done much better, with pixels. For any image with a lot of detail, it's easier -- both for the artists making them, and for the computers rendering them -- to store an extremely high resolution bitmapped image, and then downscale it as necessary, than it is to make and render a vectorized version that is "truly" resolution independent.
And now Apple's realized that by targeting "Retina Display" resolution levels, this is the last increase in image sizes they'll ever reasonably need: there's no point in making images bigger beyond this point (or displays with higher-than-retina-level DPI one would need to render them) because your eyes really won't be able to tell the difference.

It will be the last big change for mouse driven interfaces. Even if retina size monitors become massive (e.g. 50 inch) the physical size of an icon on the screen will remain the same as today. Increasing resolution beyond "retina" is pointless, it would only play to pixel-peeping freaks with magnifying glasses - hardly a profitable segment of society.
Same reason print resolution has not increased in a long long time. Once printing resolution matured there were other things to focus on (colour, contrast, etc). Same will play out for computer monitors.

Not PC guys, but good industrial and interface designers will. Starting with a clean sheet with little or no knowledge on the subject is an advantage; you tend to have different perceptions on how things work/could work. This gives a far greater idea base with simpler implementations as a result.

Apple can’t sue people who jailbreak or distribute jailbreaks for copyright infringement. They can, however, still try to prevent people from jailbreaking.
Fact is that Nintendo can still sue you for selling Nintendo games without their permission. But jailbreakers can't be sued by Apple.

Google does track their users via Adsense/Google Search. That tracking isn't just location data either. I have no idea how accurate their location data is but they get your IP address every time you use one of their sites or see one of their ads so they do have at least that. Adsense is all about targeted advertising. It is naive to think that Google isn't tracking you.
Now, does this make the location database (which has never been shown to be transmitted anywhere/used to track you) on the iPhone correct? Of course not (it doesn't make it wrong either). Might as well have everyone jump off a cliff is someone does it first.

Reason for it is the / is much clearer and less likely to be interpreted another operation (subtraction) by mistake. the / is very clear.

We (the Mac community) should not let the security industry get a toe hold in OSX.
Then get Apple to release security updates for longer than 24 months.

What does the OP mean we found a healing treasure and it has no effect? I thought we'd get an extra 5 HP for that.
We are all at full strength, that is why the healing treasure had no effect. Can we take it with us and use it later?

Doing it through the app store mares it more advertised and more users will be able to just upgrade. Whereas before u had to somehow hear about it and then take a drive to the store. Now it's easier and more advertised but you now have these "problems". So it will probably be available in the app store but u can burn it to a disc if u want, or purchase it from a apple store. But apple wants the primary distribution point to be the app store.
